Hello there, I'm from germany, and have some hard time, to activate Vista Beta 2. If I try to activate it, i've got the Errorcode 0x8004fe33. There are no additional Information available...
I've suspecting the office-firewall to be the problem, because, you need to use a proxy for that, so I've needed to activate XP by telephone, now this is my main problem: It seems, that there is no activation via telephone available..
What to do now ?

Avtivation problem
Have you verified that your telephony modem is working properly under Vista? If it is not, you may need to update the drivers for it by going to the support sites for the manufacturer of your modem.

Hi,
Keep in mind its a beta, thus their not going to hire people to deal with activiation problems just yet. I have heard if you re-enter the key in the "change my key" area, and then try to activate, it works for some who had problems.
Not sure what port it uses to check the activation but I'd assume it something standerd like 80. If you still have problems I can try to set a packet capture up when I activate mine and get you the exact port.
Good luck, -Ben

Hello,
first, thank for answering !
I don't think it's a port problem, because, XP works just fine, but XP ask's me for the Proxy authentification, Vista doesn't, so I think, Vista has a problem, to handle Proxy's in his authentification, and also in his Update-System (even this doesn't work)...
So I will try it with a dialup-modem...

I had this problem when I first installed vista as well. Try reinstalling ('cause you can't do anything at this point at all, it'll still give you the same error.)
If you modified the date during the installation when it prompted you to, DON'T. If you didn't before, DON'T do it this time either :-P.
Apparently windows has an issue with the timestamp setting and it automatically makes it to where you can't get back in if you set the date too far ahead (I.E: Current date) from Vista's release date.

I've activated 2 times, and both were successful when done, I think it has to do with the WGA because alot of folks are having issues with genuine software that is being reported as bogus.
